Ingredients
  • pumpkin - 1 kg and a bit more
  • sugar - to taste
  • cinnamon - 2 packets
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • powdered sugar - for sprinkling
  • walnuts - 400 g
  • butter - 150 g
  • honey - 5 - 7 tbsp
  • phyllo pastry - 1 packet of thin sheets
Preparation
  1. Grate the pumpkin, but not too finely.
  2. Salt the grated pumpkin and let it sit for 10 minutes, then squeeze out excess water.
  3. Add sugar (7-8 tbsp), 1 packet of cinnamon to the pumpkin and mix well.
  4. Melt the butter. For Christmas Eve, use oil instead.
  5. Crush the walnuts, but keep some pieces large.
  6. Layer two sheets of phyllo pastry, greasing each, and place the filling along the short edge.
  7. Roll up the pastry with the filling and place in a greased baking dish.
