Preparation
Prepare the base: Whisk the egg whites separately from the yolks. Add sugar to the egg whites, then add oil, flour mixed with baking powder. Optionally, make one mixture dark by adding cocoa.
Slowly fold in the flour mixed with baking powder into the egg mixture using a spatula. Pour the mixture into a round baking pan (about 24 cm in diameter) lined with oiled parchment paper.
Bake in a moderate oven for about 40 minutes at 180-200 degrees. Once baked, let it cool before cutting into 2-3 layers.
While the layers are cooling, prepare the white sauce by heating milk and sugar in a pot. Mix eggs thoroughly with flour, then gradually add to the warm milk, stirring to avoid lumps.
Blend the sauce with an immersion blender while adding the butter.
Layer the cake: alternate layers of cake and sauce, finishing with sauce on top. Decorate with nuts or cocoa as shown in the picture.
