1 packet dry yeast

1 tsp sugar

about 700 g flour

For the syrup: 3 cups sugar

3 cups water

peels and juice of 1 lemon

1 liquid vanilla
Preparation
Activate the yeast in the warm milk and add sugar and salt.
Sift the flour, make a well, and pour in the eggs and the activated yeast.
Knead a moderately soft dough, divide into 6 balls, and roll them out as much as possible.
Pair them up, greasing between with oil or butter, roll into a log, and cut into 1 cm circles.
Repeat with the remaining dough, let them rise in the baking tray.
Bake at 180° until golden brown, then pour the cooled syrup over the warm banitsa.
